Today's workout was done in teams of 3. The mission was to finish 100 pull ups, 100 dips, draw a map to your work place, 100 Cleans, and 100 Knee to Elbows...for time. You could complete the workout anyway you wanted to. It was great to see how both teams used different techniques, ideas, and teamwork to complete their goal. It was also hilarious to watch and in the teams own words "FUN to do". Great job guys!
We went and checked out the Kendo Local Championships. Our Crossfit Westside client 'Maya' was competing. We were blown away by her and this sport. This art stems from the old samurai warrior teachings. It is INTENSE. The metal face masks and swords were scary enough to look at, but once the athletes started competing it was even crazier to see the intensity, speed, agility, and determination.
Maya finished 1st! We are looking forward to seeing her win the Canadian Kendo Championships this June in Toronto.

Friday we held our first Crossfit Total Competition. Our class started 6 weeks ago. We worked 3 lifts: The Squat, Press, and Deadlift. Everyone hit new PR's for all there lifts, PLUS both Asja and Renae got their first static pull ups!

Check out the schedule for our next 6 week powerlifting program.
Yesterday we learned the hang squat clean. This move takes alot of speed, power, coordination, and agility. As well, it increases your cardiovascular endurance when doing high reps. This movement uses hip extension (the essence of any athletic move i.e. running, jumping, pulling, throwing) with weight giving you a good dose of cardio, increased VO2 max, and speed.
Everyone has their own reasons for training. Some people want to lose weight, others want to get stronger, and others want to get better at the sports they love to do. Why do you do Crossfit? Email us we would love to know.
